After a recent trip to Sokoyo and having the delight of enjoying their spicy Edamame, I had to rush home and try to recreate this amazing dish and with relatively few ingredients I think I may have got it spot on. Edamame are Soya beens that are served in their pods, you suck out the beans from their pods and as you do the flavours which you have added end up in your mouth at the same time! Not that I am overly health conscious, as I generally eat what tastes great and don’t worry about if it’s good for me or not! Soya beans however, are really healthy, so at least I can say I am trying ! Here is my recipe for Finger Licking Edemame Enjoy.
500g Frozen Edamame, they can be found in the freezer section of most Asian Supermarkets
1 clove garlic crushed
2Tbs Sesame oil
2Tsp Shichimi Togarashi spice blend from Herbies goto http://www.thegourmetgrocer.com.au
2 Tsp Salt
1 Tsp Chilli flakes
Defrost your edemame and pat dry to take away most of the moisture and place in a bowl. Pour in the sesame oil, the crushed garlic clove and mix well, making sure the edamame is well coated. On a hot BBQ plate, grill the edamame until they are slightly charred. Sprinkle with the salt, Shichimi Togarashi and chilli flakes and serve while they are still warm. Make sure you have a big napkin, as you will end up sucking the salty spicy flavours from your fingers. Enjoy.
